The Dordogne is famous for its numerous lakes. Its a
fishermans paradise as well as those who like to swim and play about in
lakes and rivers. Canoes can be hired in several locations either by the
hour or for the day if required. Tennis, horse riding, golf and lovely
bike rides or walks are on your door step.
The town of Thiviers has four supermarkets, banks and post
office, in addition to a wide variety of other shops and restaurants. The
extensive market is held every Saturday morning. Thiviers has a
large swimming pool in the picturesque park and close by are several lakes
suitable for swimming. Limoges is famous for its fine china and the
porcelain factory is well worth a visit.
Limoges airport is only 45 minutes away and is well served both
by Ryan air and Flybe.
Périgueuex with its old Roman quarter is a labyrinth of narrow
streets with every conceivable type of shop. Brantome, Sarlat, Bordeaux
and Bergerac are all within an easy drive and well worth exploring.

Petite Chabanne - beautiful barn conversion, with attached barn on
Dordogne/Haute Vienne border.
La Petite Chabanne is one long building, very big, with one huge barn for
possible storage.
It all faces south on a gentle slope, which is great for that sunshine. It is
approached by a poplar lined drive to the front.
There are patios to the side
and front and there are several trees around the house.
The
kitchen diner stretches from front to back, has exposed oak beams and is tiled,
with wide steps up from dining area to kitchen area.
There
is a large white tiled island with drawers and cupboards and 3 high stools for
breakfast seating, by the double porcelain sink, a double cooker with 5 ring gas
hob, and a tiled work surface over storage cupboards. There
is a washing machine and large fridge, also another long table with bench
seating.
Downstairs off the kitchen is a large room which could be another bedroom or
office.
The back door leads out onto a wide patio, with
large outdoor table with large parasol and garden chairs.
There are steps up from the kitchen to a shower room with WC and basin.
The
sitting room leads off from the dining area, and has a high ceiling, with a
balcony round 3 sides, which leads off the stairs to the bedrooms and mezzanine
floor.
There
are large patio glass doors, leading to a patio, a wood burner, steps up to a
raised floor area, under the mezzanine. This room is very light and spacious.
Upstairs there are 4 large bedrooms, 2
with 1 double bed each,1 with 2 double beds and 1 with 2 single beds.
There
is also the mezzanine with a 4' bed, and a large landing area with a foam double
sofa bed and a single foam chair bed, large coffee table, a lovely space to
chill and read.

We have tried to keep the old flavour in the renovation and have left many
beautiful stone walls exposed.
There is a wood burning fire
in the kitchen diner and also in the sitting room and there are electric
radiators in some of the bedrooms.

There is a bakery and a bar in Champniers, 1-2 km. For supermarkets and
other shops, St Mathieu is about 4/5 km north, and has a great lake with
sandy beach for swimming, and Piegut-Pluviers about 7 km south, where
there is a great Wednesday market. Nontron, a beautiful old hillside
town is 12 km south with a market on Saturday.
Limoges is 65 km - easy drive to airport.
Perigueux about an hour and a quarters drive.
2 hours drive west to the coast.

There is parking for 4/5 cars in front of the house and another area out back
for 5/6.

ports/Belgium. The A89 Bordeaux/Brive la Gaillarde
motorway brings one to Perigueux and the N21 from
Perigueux (direction Bergerac) passes close to Pont
St Mamet and is the easiest route coming from the north.
Bergerac and Bordeaux airports are easily accessible
and have daily flights from/to various UK and International
destinations and of course Paris.

The cottage is available for longer

around October through to
April of the following year. We
offer the longer term rental period for two adults only. Well behaved cats and
dogs are also welcome.

During the winter months itīs important to be warm and
comfortable. With that in aim in mind we offer the cottage for long-term winter
renting for 2 people only and close off two of the bedrooms.
We exchange the summer furniture for upholstered armchairs and hang heavy
tapestry curtains. There is a wood-burning stove and oil-filled radiators.
The
Master bedroom, with en suite, leads from the living area and in both bathrooms
there are fan heaters. The cottage takes on a cosy and comfortable feel,
conducive with the time of year.
The
kitchen is integral to the living area in the style of a traditional French
farmhouse. Itīs well equipped with gas stove, under-counter fridge, microwave
and dishwasher. Thereīs a washing machine in the 2nd bathroom and also a
dryer. In the garage there is an additional fridge and separate freezer.
All is tastefully decorated and furnished with nice features of above-counter
concealed lighting in the kitchen, picture and wall lights in the living room
and bedroom.
We donīt mind if you want to bring you dog, as long as itīs well behaved, as
this is a farming environment with sheep and cows in the adjacent fields
surrounding our property.
Our land extends beyond the garden area, around the cottage, to some 6.5
hectares, with our own private recreational lake - plenty of space for
exercising the dog and nice for a spot of fishing in the winter months. A bit
chilly for a swim - wait until May!!
The cottage is located at the end of a small country road at the end of our
village of St Priest Les Fougeres. Itīs very private and tranquil with
spectacular views of the beautiful Perigord Vert countryside. Weīve a wonderful
bakery/general store in the village which is a minuteīs walk away from the
cottage. Weīve also a post office (open half a day) and a bar and garage.
The village is located on the D79 between La Coquille and Jumilhac le Grand.
Weīre just 2.5kms to the main RN21 road at La Coquille which is a small town
equidistant between Limoges and Perigueux.
This is an ideal location if you are seeking a tranquil environment; maybe to
write a book, a thesis or do some painting and reading. If property seeking
itīs conveniently located being just 2.5kms to the main RN21 road at La Coquille
with excellent communications to the whole area.
- Nearest Airport is at Limoges, 45 kms away serviced
daily by Ryanair from London Stansted, Liverpool, the
East Midlands, and by Flybe from Southampton.
- La Coquille has main line SNCF rail connections
services.
- Our village of St Priest Les Fougeres (on the D79) is
the highest village in the Dordogne and is located just
2.5kms from the main RN21 at La Coquille between
Limoges and Perigueux.
- Within the immediate vicinity of St Priest Les Fougeres
are the towns of Thiviers, Chalus, St Jean de
Cole, Brantome and Jumilhac Le Grand.
- The towns of Perigueux, Limoges, Sarlat,
Bergerac, Bordeaux are all within a comfortable
driving distance.
